Bob Weir will finish up his amazing tour with The Campfire Band this weekend at Wanee. It's been an interesting year for Bob Weir. Who delivered new material when his long awaited cowboy album was released as "Blue Mountain". It was an instant success with critics and fans alike. If the first album of new material in almost 30 years was a homerun, then the tour to support it was a grand slam. Longtime bandmate Steve Kimock joined most of the talent that help create "Blue Mountain" on the road for a string of diverse shows. Each show followed the same formula, Bobby would open with a few solo acoustic numbers, before the band would join him for a string of songs off the new release. The second sets were mostly made up of Grateful Dead gems and covers. But that is about all the second sets had in common, as Bob crafted very different second sets for each venue. Thanks to Jambuzz we can listen to the complete 4-18-2016 show with George Portor sitting in on bass. You will love this Sugaree!

What was different about the NOLA show was his song selection. Instead of opening with a couple of ballads or Dylan tunes, Bob got the Saenger Theatre rocking right from the opening “Walking Blues.” Bob didn’t wait to drop the funk on New Orleans either and busted out an acoustic version of “The Music Never tunes, mainly from Weir’s 2016 release Blue Mountain.
