I come from Memphis where I learned to talk the jive. It's also where I went to a music festival every year before there was a circuit full of bad drugs and the same line-up. I used to get a 3 day pass for 35 dollars. It's still only a little under 100 dollars for a diverse music festival that will quench many musical pallets daily. There won't be a 40 minute" Down by the River" this year and no Paul Simon to close out Sunday. But W.S.P, MGMT, Griz among others bands such as "Soundgarden" and Australian legends "Midnight Oil". It's worth price of admission if you just sit in the Blues Tent. There are many draw backs to my hometown festival. The crowd reminds me of a Friday at the D.M.V more than souls celebrating. But it's Memphis where you come for the barbeque and stay because you got murdered. I kid my hometown where 7 out of 10 kids don't finish 7th grade. I do miss southern music festivals but just not my hometown one.
