November 11, 2016 (Brooklyn, NY) - Today, funky R&B quartet The Nth Power proudly release their second full-length album, To Be Free - Live. The nine-track album was recorded over the summer during two nights of intimate live performances in Boston, MA and one night in the band’s hometown of Brooklyn, NY. Unlike most live albums, which are made up mostly of previously recorded material, seven songs on the album represent new material for the band.

To Be Free accentuates the incredible live chops of four powerhouse musicians: Nikki Glaspie (vocals, drums); Nate Edgar (bass); Nick Cassarino(vocals, guitar); and Courtney J. Mell Smith (vocals, keyboards) while encompassing the intimacy and organic quality of a live performance. The Nth Power’s message of love and unity is carried by their signature gospel-style vocals along with soul, jazz, funk and world-beat riffs.

Singersroom, who premiered the full album earlier this week, zeroed in on the single “Truth” and the timeliness of the album’s release during election week. “‘Truth’ is very fitting; in a system that profits off of ignorance and thrives on complacency, the song is a call to action – a reminder to unify and educate ourselves because preserving and strengthening humanity is our greatest responsibility.”

To Be Free – LIVE was a leap of faith for us,” the band tells Singersroom. “We wrote and recorded the record within a 3-month period and wanted to get it out quickly because the songs are a true representation of our mission and what we are about. [We] believe that music can heal, connect, and strengthen individuals and community and we feel a sense of urgency to spread that now more than ever.” Read the full feature here.

To Be Free - Live, distributed through Harmonized Records, is now available on all digital platforms and retail stores nationwide. The album may also be purchased at The Nth Power shows.
