EOTO returns to their Colorado roots with three consecutive dates scheduled in Aspen, Denver, and Boulder from Dec 1 - 3. Born in the Rockies and established in the national touring circuit, EOTO will cap off a successful fall tour with a climatic finale in their home stomping grounds.
Blazing new trails in live electronic music, EOTO prides itself in an improvisation technique unlike any other. Groovy bass lines and rhythms are laid out like a highway map for which the duo adds layers of drum beats, guitar riffs, keys and live vocals through an impressive array of computers, midi controllers, routers, software, mixers and looping devices.
Their rig, a spaceship of technology that might look more at home in on a distant planet, provides a platform for which EOTO can explore, unfettered by what their instruments alone can provide. Check out this Video atYouTube highlighting the duo's unique set up in action.
The sky is the limit for what EOTO is capable of, and as a result, their unparalleled ability to improvise night after night is landmark (there are no pre-recorded loops, no backing tracks, and no pre-constructed songs in their live production). For this reason, the band has released a massive catalog of live music available at LiveDownloads, that purely reflects their craft, documents their changes, growth and adaptability in a rapidly changing musical culture over the last ten years. With more than 1000 shows in 48 different states, and over 700 recorded shows, the archive (along with their ever growing catalog of free music at SoundCloud) features live electro, deep house, dubstep and straight-in-your-face dance music recorded throughout their tenure. The collection is available for download from the band's official website, as well as at LiveDownloads, and reflects the history of the changing culture in electronic music, as it does the evolution of the band itself.
No stranger to the main stage, accomplished percussionist/drummer and DJ --- Jason Hann has performed with a diverse catalog of artists including Loreena McKennitt, Dr. Dre and Isaac Hayes. Throughout his career, he has sat in with members of the Grateful Dead, as well as pursuits with a handful of traditional West African bands and a spectrum world music performers. Michael Traviscut his musical teeth in the junior high school marching band playing the French horn in the early eighties. It wasn’t until 1995, when the drum kit found its way into his life, a moment that would shape his career forever. For more than twenty years he has held down the rhythm section for audiences spanning hundreds of thousands of fans with the wildly successful String Cheese Incident.
Together they also share a long history transforming the rhythm section of the perennial jam unit, String Cheese Incident into a disco-worthy dance party of legendary proportions. Their mix of organic instrumentation, high-tech digital looping, and live mixing has fueled a new era of music fan who prefers music laced with heavy beats, bass, and electro sensibilities. The project has spawned numerous off-shoot projects for the duo while ushering in a new era of live instrumentation with mixing.
Over the years, EOTO has taken home numerous awards including “Best Live Dubstep” at the Dubstep Awards in 2012 as well as multiple awards for their cutting edge visual show, and most recently ranked in the “Top 50 bands to see live” by HypeMusicFestivals.com. Hann was also listed as the number 2 live EDM drummer by TheUntz.com, and in 2016 EOTO was rated the top 3 best Projection mapping shows by ill-methodology. A number of incredible videos in both the studio and live are available for viewing on EOTO's video page at YouTube.
While EOTO certainly brings everything from a top-notch visual performance to house music, dubstep, and electro to the table - their music is adept as it is diverse. Experts at their craft, their performances explore unknown territories, mark new discoveries and leave their mark in every town they visit.
EOTO will return to Colorado for three nights this December with performances at the Belly Up in Aspen, the Gothic Theater in Englewood and will close out the year on Dec 3rd at the Boulder Theater. Tickets are available for purchase at www.eotomusic.com
“This dynamic duo engineers music that many of today’s producers spend hours creating in the basement, but right on the spot in front of live audiences.”
Amazon Announces the cast for their Upcoming Grateful Dead T.V. Show.
This was my April Fool's Joke!
Amazon just released the cast members that will play the Grateful Dead band members in their upcoming show about the band's life. I am not an acting coach but I must admit there are more than a few head scratchers. Before we announce the cast, one odd moment actually delayed the production team from casting the respective roles of the show. When executive producer and GD member Bobby Weir insisted on playing Jerry Garcia. The uncomfortable week of dealing with this unrealistic request came to an end when Bill Walton pointed out to Bobby that he has in fact been playing that role already since Jerry untimely death in 1995. One thing Bob was adamant about was picking the actor to play him. He insisted on 80's child star Corey Feldman, Bobby was quoted of saying "Just watch "Dream a Little Dream" 1 threw 6 if you think he does not have the chee…
Some As#hole Screamed "Free Bird" at a Recent Bob Dylan Show. The only actual news is Bob obliged and played a note-perfect rendition of the dueling guitar solo in Lynyrd Skynyrd's Rock Anthem. Watch!
Bob Dylan has never met a cover he did not like. He has incorporated countless tunes by many artists in his live shows since the early sixties. Ironically, the Never Ending Tour is supporting Dylan's latest release Fallen Angels which is his second installment of Frank Sinatra classics. I have had the pleasure of seeing Dylan live well over a hundred shows and witnessed him cover everybody from The Grateful Dead to Warren Zevon and all genres in-between. But I never thought I would hear the Great One cover " Free Bird". Of course, some asshole yelled to hear it or be funny. Hell, maybe he was trying to impress a date and had a low I.Q. Whatever the reason he yelled it, is less fascinating than why Dylan played it. I think he finally got sick of hearing song…
BONNAROO 2016: More than 100 arrested, cited in first few hours.
Same as it Ever Was..... The Tennessean is already reporting over 100 arrests and Bonnaroo has barely begun. That stat was given around 2 p.m yesterday after a few hours of the festival. It is not clear if they count the kids they arrest just driving there. "The arrests, Knott said many were made overnight, included disorderly conducts and illegal possession of controlled substances including harder drugs like LSD and Molly." "Law enforcement overseeing the 15th annual Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn. said Thursday that they've cited and arrested more than 100 people less than one day into the event."Last year they only made 75 arrests the whole festival. This year seems to be a different story as they eclipsed last year's arrests in a few hours. When asked about medical emergencies Knott was quoted,"We've been lucky we haven't had any so far, but we are on guard becau…
