ARISE Global Cooling Initiatives

There is no Planet B, people. This precious, life-giving, blue-green Planet Earth is the only home to all living things. The ARISE Music Festival is excited to be working with Fort Collins, Colorado based non-profit Trees, Water & People  for the second consecutive year to plant one tree for every ticket sold.

Trees, Water & People's (TWP) mission is to improve people's lives by helping communities protect, conserve, and manage the natural resources upon which their long-term well-being depend.

TWP work is guided by two core beliefs:
• Natural resources are best protected when local people play an active role in their care and management; and
• Preserving local ecosystems is essential for the ongoing social, economic, and environmental health of communities everywhere.

GAIA PRESENTS THE FILM SCREENING: ONE TRACK HEART
ARISE and Gaia are proud to announce that One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das will be screened in The Big Sunrise Dome at ARISE 2016.

In 1970, a young musician named Jeffrey Kagel walked away from the American dream of rock ’n’ roll stardom—turning down the lead singer slot in the band that would become Blue Oyster Cult. He sold all his possessions and moved from the suburbs of New York to the foothills of the Himalayas in search of happiness and a little-known saint named Neem Karoli Baba (or Maharajji). One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das follows Kagel’s journey to India and back, his struggles with depression and drug abuse, and his eventual emergence as Krishna Das — the world-renowned spiritual teacher, chant master and Grammy-nominated recording artist. Featuring interviews with Be Here Now author and spiritual guru Ram Dass, Grammy-winning producer Rick Rubin (Beastie Boys, Metallica, Johnny Cash), New York Times bestselling author Sharon Salzberg, and two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee Daniel Goleman, as well as a score by Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis and Devadas, One Track Heart is the inspiring story of how one man’s journey continues to transform countless lives.

Following the film will be a Q&Amoderated by Gaia meditation teacher Mark Williams with Stephanie Schwartz, a Gaia yoga teacher and longtime kirtan practitioner, and Katie Wise, kirtan rocker of Bhakti Explosion, who are both performing at ARISE 2016 in the Gaia Yoga Sanctuary.
Be sure to visit the Gaia Yoga Sanctuary new to ARISE this year!
