Review and Photos: Bobby Paltauf Band -Toads Place - New Haven, CT - 2/27/2014

Bobby Paltauf Band opened up their show with a light and fun, jammy song called “ Dry Martini.” The song name is appropriate for the vibe, as it seemed fit for a late night feel.  The set kept the jammy feeling with “ Playin’ This Guitar” which is another Bobby Paltauf original.
The mood got a bit heavier with an instrumental cover of the Beatles song “Eleanor Rigby” that carried heavy and intense tones. The band was clearly feeling energetic as they transitioned into a cover of “Third Stone From The Sun” by Jimi Hendrix.
Bobby Paltauf Band effortlessly paid great tribute to the song, and I was increasingly impressed with Bobby’s guitar skills, all at fourteen years young. The drummer, bassist and keyboardist ripped along to “ The Chicken” as the band blew away the Toad’s Place venue with their wall of sound they created. The band then shredded their way into “Black Rock” a  Bobby Paltauf original. This unsuspecting four piece band can really bring a heavy funk jam sound that you really wouldn't expect. Bobby’s band segued their way into “Atmosphere > Lost and Found” with the latter song closing off the set. Toads Place was left impressed by this impressive performance and energetic performers. I highly recommend checking out Bobby Paltauf Band if the opportunity arises.
