12/12: Snoe.down adds Electro-rock band Jimkata and Brasstronica quintet Primate Fiasco. Sonicbids contest now open.
Jimkata is a nationally touring electro-rock band blending heavy beats, synthy hooks, and big guitars to create music with both modern and timeless appeal. Their new fan-funded record, Die Digital, is an anthemic dance-pop nugget complete with 21st century, infectious guitar hooks.
The Primate Fiasco uses the instrumentation of a New Orleans street band (Sousaphone, banjo, brass, woodwinds, drums, etc) with high energy arrangements and a mix improvisation, fascinating lyrics and curveball cover decisions. Thanks in part to relentless touring, high profile festival performances and Grammy nominated kids album the Fiasco scene is developing a cult following of Hippies, Hipsters and jazz lovers.
Submissions are being accepted for Artists to perform at Snoe.down 2013, the all-ages winter music festival hosted by moe. One spot is reserved for a Sonicbids member to perform an intimate apr├Ęs ski set at Killington Resort’s K1 day lodge. The chosen band will perform one 90-minute set on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Killington Resort’s K1 Lodge in Killington, VT and will be compensated $400. Complimentary festival style hospitality will be available as well as lift tickets to Killington for the band. Check out for more info.

New Orleans funk band Dumpstaphunk and the progressive string band Floodwood added to the eclectic Snoe.down lineup.
According to Gambit Weekly, “Dumpstaphunk’s groove is a unique monster. It's not the minimalist funk of the Meters and it’s not the relentless funk of James Brown, although it has that rhythmic drive. It's not the psychedelic, over-the-top circus of Parliament-Funkadelic, but it often has that political slant. It's not the party funk of the Ohio Players, but it shares the high vocals that take the pressure off the bottom. Dumpstaphunk is a whole other school of funk. If you're under 35, you think you've seen funk, but you haven't. You missed the original Meters, James Brown when he wasn't a parody, Parliament-Funkadelic’s landing of the “Mothership”, Sly and the Family Stone before he went M.I.A and Booker T. and the M.G.s before the demise of Stax. Dumpstaphunk is as good as all that, and they're in their prime now.”
Floodwood, featuring Al Schnier and Vinnie Amico of moe., is a new, progressive string band, hailing from Upstate, NY. Its members are veteran musicians who've performed on stages around the world over the last 20 years. Along with Woodenspoon's Jason Barady, Nick Piccininni, and Zachary Fleitz, they breathe fresh life into timeless acoustic music & play with the dexterity & chops of seasoned pros.
Vermont natives Strangefolk and the talented American bluegrass country/jam rockers Eastbound Jesus hailing from upstate NY join moe. at Snoe.down 2013. Strangefolk, who reunited this year with their original lineup for the first time since 2000, will join moe. at Rutland’s Spartan arena for their only area appearance on Saturday, March 23. Reid Genauer, rhythm guitar and vocals; Erik Glockler, bass guitar and vocals; Jon Trafton, lead guitar and vocals and drummer Luke Smith have appeared at just a handful of select performances to rave reviews. moe.’s Al Schnier opens for Strangefolk at the Capitol Theatre in Portchester, NY Thanksgiving weekend, November 23 & 24.
