The Next Best Band To See Live: Stereo Logic

Stereo Logic is a Livetronica-Progrock Jam Band From Huntsville, Alabama.

The scoop: Stereo Logic is a four-piece progressive jam band that has been together since August 2008. The band constantly increases its repertoire of original songs, drawing influences from many genres, making the band difficult to categorize. The band plays covers ranging from bands like Umphrey's McGee to Edgar Winter Group to MGMT. The band is well known for its original sounds and exciting high energy performances.

Who's on what: Brad Bates, keyboard; Christian Clark, drums; Sam Altonji, bass; Steven Whaley, guitar.
Under the Influence: Umphrey's McGee, Radiohead, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, Jazz, progressive rock, fusion, funk, classic rock.

Gigs: Stereo Logic has performed at Bridge Street, Huntsville's Got Talent, The Davidson Center for Space Exploration, Olio (Grissom's Battle of the Bands), the Grissom Prom Fashion Show, pool parties and others.
For the record (or CD): The band recorded its first professional demo in early October. The recordings will be posted on MySpace.com/stereologichuntsville soon after editing. Stereo Logic has many videos of performances on Facebook, MySpace and YouTube. Its MySpace page also contains live recordings of original songs "Synesthesia" and "Bradberry."

What's in a name: Originally, the band played under the name Death Blade, which was intended to be ironic because they were the only band not playing metal at Olio. After playing their next few shows under the name Omega 3, the band decided on Stereo Logic.
Inside the band: Prior to forming Stereo Logic, all four members had played together in different combinations. Steven, Sam and Christian formed the band during the summer of 2008. After playing for a few weeks, Steven suggested bringing in a keyboard player that he had played with before. The next week Brad showed up at practice and immediately found a spot in the band. From then on, all four have played together, often meeting every Saturday to practice.
Also, Stereo Logic makes up the rhythm section in the Grissom A Jazz Band. The band plans to stay together to make music despite Steven and Christian going to college next year. By Chris Welch, and AL.com
